If you’re looking for some romantic inspiration for your big day, then prepare to fall head over heels for Lucy and Jack’s wonderful wedding filled with love, laughter and the most incredible Italian scenery.
Our lovely couple, Lucy and Jack met at university in Sheffield where their friendship blossomed quickly in to love. Lucy originally from Altrincham and Jack, a Brummie, eventually moved back to Lucy’s hometown where they now live together with their two adorable kittens, Sandra and Susan. After 9 years of dating, it was in May 2022, that Jack popped the question whilst the couple were visiting the Palace of Versailles in Paris. This was not only a romantic proposal but a brave one too as Jack got down on one knee whilst in a rowing boat in the palace gardens. After securing Lucy’s hand in marriage and not capsizing the boat, this happy couple began wedding planning.
Lucy and Jack were married in the idyllic Italian wine estate Villa Medicea Di Lilliano, 20 minutes away from the centre of Florence. Surrounded by vineyards and lush olive groves this 173-acre estate is nestled beautifully in the heart of the Florentine hills. Lucy and Jack chose a minimalistic, rustic theme for their wedding that would enhance the timeless beauty of the sun kissed landscapes and rolling vineyards of their venue. With simple sage green foliage adorning the long reception tables, Lucy chose neutral wedding florals with just a hint of pink to tie in with her beautiful blush pink bridesmaids’ dresses. With the groomsmen in traditional black tie, the resulting contrast of crisp smart suits and delicate dresses was simply breath-taking.
Lucy chose Sassi Holford’s ‘Hannah’ gown for her big day. Hannah was, in fact, the first dress Lucy tried on and she instantly fell in love with the simplicity of the design. Hannah is a sophisticated and sexy gown that is cut beautifully to flatter your figure. Her gorgeous racer neck bodice is elegant and effortlessly chic, accentuating your shoulders and hugging your curves in all the right places. With a keyhole back and beautiful statement tulle bow, Hannah was a classic timeless style of dress that was perfect for Lucy’s paired back aesthetic. To make the most of Hannah’s beautiful bow, Lucy chose not to wear a veil and to keep her accessories simple. She wore pearl earrings; satin pointy ivory shoes also adorned with pretty pearls and styled her hair in a low loose bun with subtle pearl pins. The resulting look was just perfect.
Lucy had these lovely words to say about her experience with us at LOVE:
“I couldn’t fault my experience at LOVE. It was the first wedding dress shop I went to as my sister bought her dress from here and we had such a lovely experience. From the initial appointment, to picking up the dress – every time I visited, I was made to feel really special. I couldn’t fault the experience!”
Making our brides-to-be feel extra-special is what we love about our job. We were thrilled to welcome Lucy as one of our LOVE brides, especially as we had already had the pleasure of helping her sister too!
Lucy and Jack said the highlights of their special day were:
“Having all our family & friends in Italy to celebrate together, we stepped back at one moment to soak it all in – that was very special. We also loved the ceremony on the roof terrace overlooking the Tuscan hills – we wrote our own vows, which will always be a favourite memory.”
After planning such a spectacular wedding, we asked Lucy and Jack for their top tips to share with couples also planning their big day. They had this to say:
“Make sure you see a few venues and try on multiple dresses, so you are able to compare style and fit. Don’t stress about the weather as it’s the only thing out of your control and an excel spreadsheet is essential for planning and keeping on top of budgets. Finally, do what makes you happy as it’s YOUR wedding day – even if you have several opinions being offered!”
Rustic, romantic and utterly beautiful, we’ve absolutely adored seeing all the details of this wonderful wedding. Many thanks to Photographers Urška & Domen for sharing some of the incredible photography of the day and extra-special thanks to make-up artist Guilia Papke who did Lucy’s bridal hair and make-up so beautifully.
Lucy and Jack’s wedding, set within the stunning backdrop of the Tuscan hills was truly magical. We loved the simple style of their décor that beautifully complemented the natural surroundings of their venue. We also heard that the next chapter of this exciting love story is about to begin with baby Bishop due imminently. We couldn’t be more thrilled for this fab couple!
