It’s the most wonderful time of year for a winter wedding! Get ready to be wowed as we share all the exquisite details of Sarah and Mike’s black tie winter wedding! This lucky pair managed to have their wedding and amazing honeymoon in Japan before all the lockdown restrictions took place. And what a wedding it was. We LOVE city chic and a yuletide extravaganza! This festive LOVE affair is also very close to my heart as my hubby not only was the photographer but is also Sarah’s cousin!

Sarah and Mike’s romance started in their university days at Queens College Cambridge. After 8 years of dating, Mike proposed to Sarah in 2018 whilst on holiday in Tuscany. As London is their home, they chose the magnificent and unique location of One Marylebone as their wedding venue. This amazing, converted church, situated in the heart of the capital, was the perfect place for their stylish, classy wedding on the 28th of December 2019.

With twinkling lights and winter flowers their wedding style had a chic yet festive feel with its wonderful Christmassy colour scheme. Using the different floors of the venue to have different themes, they made the whole place look utterly magical.  Upstairs, where their ceremony took place, boasted a classical festive wonderland theme with white roses, Christmas foliage of ivy, holly, white berries, and gorgeous smelling cinnamon sticks.

Downstairs had a more traditional Christmas style with muted jewel tones such as bottle greens, burgundies, romantic candles and two huge Christmas trees. This was where the celebratory dinner, dancing, and bucking bronco reindeer (yes you read that right) took place. With a big wreath to welcome guests on arrival and gorgeous garland up the staircase and along the windows this was a wedding totally infused with Christmas spirit.

Like lots of brides, Sarah wasn’t sure exactly what dress she wanted for her big day, but she knew that she wanted a gown that was timeless and classic and possibly one with long sleeves (it was a December wedding after all). As is often the case with bridal dresses, a dress you weren’t expecting can capture your heart.  Sarah fell in LOVE with Naomi, a sleek strapless Sassi Holford gown. This stunning dress has a beautiful, curved neckline, figure hugging silhouette and gorgeous gentle fishtail skirt.

Sarah said, “I liked the idea of sleeves for a winter wedding, I tried on a couple of other dresses but gravitated back to the strapless Sassi Holford Naomi dress. When Emma showed me the matching jacket with sleeves, I knew it was perfect and allowed me to have both styles of dress.”

As winter is such a great season to bring in accessories, layers, or jackets to give versatility to your bridal look we suggested that Sarah try a few accessories to complement her dress. Once Sarah tried on the Naomi dress with matching Sassi Holford Harriet jacket with beautiful long bell sleeves, her mind was made up. Coming back with her mum, sister and mother-in-law for that final confirmation, Sarah ended up with a three-in-one bridal look and we absolutely loved her choices.

For her ceremony Sarah wore her Sassi Holford Naomi dress with a plain belt and Made with Love Carla cape with its choker style neck and delicate embroidered flowers. For her dinner and reception, she replaced the cape with the stunning Sassi Holford Harriet jacket that gave the illusion of a long-sleeved dress and was a perfect touch of fabulousness to transition between the ceremony and reception. For the evening reception she then revealed her stunning strapless dress and belt, finishing off the third look beautifully. We adore the versatility of looks Sarah achieved on her big day by using layers and accessories as simple, beautiful style statements.

Sarah and Mike totally embraced a winter style wedding. With Sully their dog involved in the day too, this wedding was full of LOVE, laughter and seasonal magic.

Thanks so much to Jonny for sharing the photos of the day and a huge shout out to some other fabulous suppliers that helped make this wedding so magical.

One Events and One Dining for the venue and catering, Mary Jane Vaughan (in particular Anna) for the amazing flowers. Clownfish Events for the bucking bronco/ reindeer, Maison Guimauve for the delicious marshmallow tower, and Light it Up! for the DJ and light up saxophone and drums.
