From bouquets and buttonholes to table centrepieces and floral aisle style, getting the best blooms for your big day is oh-so important. Just like selecting the dress of your dreams, your bridal blooms can help set the mood, tone and style of your wedding. So, whatever you want to say on your wedding day, why not say it with fantastic flower style and flair?

Here are 5 top wedding flower trends to watch out for in 2023! It’s a blooming brilliant display of fantastic florals you’ll definitely want to say ‘I do’ to!

Bright wedding flowers

  1. Bright & Bold Wedding Colours

Whilst muted pastel tones have historically grabbed the wedding limelight, 2023 sees the continued emergence of bright, brilliant and bold blooms. After all the uncertainty of recent years couples are embracing their individuality and injecting some fun into their wedding florals. And why not! We will see more colour combos to die for – contrasting strong bold palettes and a mixing and matching of varying shades and textures. A rainbow of possibilities awaits the daring bride in 2023! We can’t wait!

Texture

  1. Tremendous Texture

As a florist texture is one of my favourite things so I’m beyond excited to see this floral trend coming in to play more in 2023! Texture in floral designs is created by adding a range of flower varieties, contrasting foliage and gentle movement to create something special and eye-catching. With less pressure to follow traditional wedding styles and an exciting, edgier vibe emerging in 2023, we are seeing requests for more striking combinations of foliage and flowers that are oh-so beautifully different.

floral structures

  1. Maximalist Structures and Floral Installations

Floral flamboyance is firmly on the agenda in 2023.  We will see more playful décor and OTT flower installations coming from couples with a great eye for making a striking style statement– think floral backdrops, flower clouds, flower chandeliers and so much more!  Large installations are not only fun, but they look brilliant on your photos. Move the installation throughout the wedding to get maximum value too. Use it at your ceremony to frame you as you say, ‘I do!’ and then move to it to the wedding reception to use as a focal point behind your table or even to the entrance of your venue to welcome guests in serious style. Weddings may have ground to a halt in 2020 but in 2023 they’re back and full to the brim with bountiful blooms and floral inspiration. 2023 really is the year to go mad with flowers and add some wedding ‘wow’ factor to your bridal blooms.

  1. Pressed Flower Fun

Hot on the heels of the dried flower trend, it’s no surprise to see the rise of pressed flower décor becoming more fashionable in 2023.

Pressed flowers are not only beautiful they are eco-friendly, oh-so romantic and full of wonderful delicate details. Incorporating pressed blooms in wedding invitations, place cards or seating plans is a fabulous way to add some floral flair to your wedding in a totally on-trend way.

cascading bouquet

  1. Chic Cascading Bouquets

This is one blossoming trend we love! Whilst reminiscent of the 80’s the cascading bouquet is making a comeback and we couldn’t be more excited about it! With a more is definitely more theme, cascading bouquets in 2023 are big, bold and literally dropping to the floor with lush trailing vines and colourful ribbons. Another top trend for these bountiful bouquets is colour gradient cascades, perfect for drawing your eye to the bride but also creating a jaw-dropping floral display your guests will love. Whatever your wedding theme there’s a chic cascading bouquet to suit. These iconic asymmetrical designs are the perfect way to add drama to your wedding florals!

With thanks to Flower Lounge couples Stephanie & Jake (Emily Robinson Photography), Laura & Marc (Stella Photography) and Lisa & Jordan (Petal & Blush Artistry) and their photographers for letting me share their special day.

I’ve loved talking flower trends with Siân. There’s nothing better than seeing new, exciting wedding styling coming to the forefront. The Flower Lounge certainly know a thing or two about crafting innovative, luxury wedding blooms that are designed to impress so I can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store!
