We LOVE a classically romantic wedding with a hint of colour so we couldn’t wait to hear all about the classical, oh-so elegant colour combo at Alexandra and Billy’s wonderful wedding! We’re still swooning over this gorgeous couple’s dreamy colour palette!
Alexandra and Billy, both originally from Manchester, met in 2014. Having moved into their Stockport home in 2017, it was in September 2020, at a cute, pebbled beach near Billy’s parents caravan in Anglesey, that Billy popped the question! Unbeknown to Alexandra, for the entire car journey to Anglesey and whilst they walked down the beach, Billy had the ring in his pocket, just waiting for the right moment. It was the perfect surprise proposal!
Alexandra and Billy were married on the 27th of May 2022 at Styal Lodge. This LOVE fave is set in the gorgeous National Trust village of Styal, nestled in the Cheshire countryside. With light airy rooms, and a simple, natural style, this was the perfect place for the happy couple to say, “I do.”
Using colour as their ‘theme’, Alexandra and Billy chose a combination of classic navy blue and delicate blush pink for their big day. The result was breath-taking. The stark contrast of the navy blue against the pastel pink just oozed understated, elegant romance! Alexandra used florist Jill Naughton for her gorgeous bridal flowers. Designed to perfectly compliment the romantic vibe the couple were aiming for, Alexandra’s bouquet was filled with soft cream roses, blush pink peonies, blue thistles and white gypsophila mixed with fragrant, sage green eucalyptus.
Alexandra chose to wear Harlow by Made with Love. This stunning gown is the epitome of romance with an extra a touch of sparkle! Alexandra had already spotted Harlow on Instagram and had an inkling that this would be her “yes” dress. Like most brides-to-be she had a few dresses on her wish list, including another MWL gown, Ryder, but when she tried Harlow on, she knew instantly this was the “one”. Harlow is covered with the most romantic, hand sewn 3D lace that has a magical oh-so-subtle sparkle. She really is something special. Figure hugging and flattering, with a plunging low back, deep V neck and spectacular train, it’s easy to see why Alexandra fell in love with this gorgeous gown. Alexandra paired her Harlow dress with the matching Harlow veil and some statement earrings from Pijouletta Jewellery. The resulting look was so perfect it had Alexandra’s Dad in tears!
Alexandra had this to say about her experience with us at LOVE,
“Emma and Charlotte were amazing from the start. Charlotte listened to me and what I was after dress-wise and picked out some lovely dresses for me to try. I felt so comfortable and at ease with them.”
Aww we may be feeling a bit blush pink ourselves after those lovely words!
Alexandra said her highlight of the day was seeing Billy stood at the top of the aisle waiting for her. She was so excited to marry him. Later in the day, they took the opportunity to take photos at Styal Lodge’s stunning lake, including some with their pawsome pooches Pablo and Winnie. It was an extra special moment that the happy couple will cherish forever.
Alexandra and Billy’s top tips for other soon to be married couples are:
“Don’t feel the need to fulfil everyone else’s wishes. It is you and your partners day and it’s about you, not others. Be prepared that things will go wrong on the day, and you just have to roll with it. There is no point getting stressed, as 10 seconds of chaos won’t ruin the rest of an amazing day.”
Alexandra also added:
“Think about where you can save. We made our own centre pieces using empty gin bottles and flowers (cost us £20 in flowers) and I made our wedding cake.”
It does help that Alexandra is owner of Bakesbyalexandrajane and specialises in making stunning wedding and celebrations cakes. Despite friends worrying that making her own wedding cake would cause her extra stress, Alexandra confesses it was a relaxing experience and a super way to calm down from the stresses of the wedding week!
With fantastic live music by The Wayfarers that kept everyone on the dance floor and surrounded by all their friends and family, this lovely couple really had the best day ever!
