There’s nothing more delightful than a countryside wedding – we just can’t get enough of all that rustic charm and vintage vibes. So, we couldn’t wait to hear all about LOVE bride Vic and her beau Bobby’s rustic meets modern wedding!
This fab couple met in a corridor! Yes – true love really can strike anywhere! It was whilst living opposite each other (they both rented apartments in the same building in the Green Quarter, Manchester) and passing in the corridors, that this couple caught each other’s eye. Vic, originally from Yorkshire, and Bobby, a Glaswegian, say it was pure serendipity that they met. What a great story!
Their engagement story is also quite unique. They got engaged in April 2019 whilst on holiday. Bobby intended to propose in Sri Lanka where they had planned to travel after Dubai, but they arrived just as the Easter Bombings took place. They understandably headed back to Dubai, where Bobby popped the question.
Vic and Bobby got married in May 2022 at The Tithe Barn, Bolton Abbey. Set in the Yorkshire dales, this gorgeous Grade II listed building overlooks the historic priory ruins. With its ancient beams, chandeliers and modern open glass kitchen, this venue was the perfect choice for the rustic meets modern vibe the couple were looking for. Tithe Hall with its unique blend of old charm and new modern style offered a unique, fresh, modern take on a typical rustic setting.
Vic wanted the wedding to complement the venue’s style, so every detail was picked to perfection. Vic and Bobby’s six bridesmaids wore soft rose-pink dresses in wonderful non-traditional styles. Not only did Vic want her bridesmaids to wear the dresses again, sticking with traditional dresses didn’t fit with her clear vision for the day.
Having trained as a florist with the Tallulah Rose Flower School in lockdown and setting up her side hustle Dallas and The Wild, she put her floral passion to good use at her wedding. With help from two freelance florist friends and her mum, she set about creating the most stunning floral displays, combining both a traditional and modern style. She selected blousy peonies, majolica and garden style roses, hydrangeas, sweet peas and stocks for their wonderful scent. The results were simply breath-taking.
For her big day, Vic wore the Stevie gown in bone, by Made with Love. She admits she only really considered the Stevie gown after she watched the Instagram stories featuring this dress the night before her fitting!
Stevie is a dream of a gown. With a daringly low back, stunning V-neck and covered with beautiful delicate lace detailing, it’s easy to see why Stevie steals everyone’s hearts. With a figure-hugging nude lace silhouette and stunning train, she is soft romantic and oh-so pretty! Originally Vic had always thought she wanted a plain wedding dress but felt that none of the ones she tried on suited her. When she put Stevie on, it all fell into place. As is often the case for many brides-to-be, the dress they fall in LOVE with tends to be the opposite of what they’d imagined!
For Vic, another reason the Stevie gown suited her so well was the stunning bone colour. Vic is naturally pale and felt that anything white left her feeling ghostly! The warm tones of Stevie’s bone white colour complemented her skin tone perfectly. Vic paired her dress with a simple pearl headband from Lace and Favour and detachable bridal wings (the modern alternative to a veil) from The Bobbin.
She had these kind words to say about her experience at LOVE.
“I had a really unique and amazing experience at LOVE and I can’t credit Charlotte and Emma enough for it. I’d previously been to a couple of bridal boutiques, and I felt really disheartened as I didn’t like myself in anything I tried on. On the day of my appointment there was a big storm and travel wasn’t advised. My bridesmaids and mum couldn’t attend so I had to go to the appointment alone. Charlotte and Emma were so lovely and made me feel at ease, especially as I didn’t have anyone around to give me a second opinion. There were no pushy sales techniques and they really cared how I felt and what kind of dress I wanted to wear.”
Vic told us she used to live around the corner from our boutique and how she always loved our window displays. She said she knew, when the time came, she’d get her dress from us!
Vic said some of her highlights of this special day were the surprised faces of her bridesmaids finally seeing her in her beautiful gown (due to Covid no-one had been able to see her in the dress beforehand), and her dad walking her down the aisle, especially as he’d had a serious accident ten years ago.
Vic and Bobby share these top wedding tips for other soon-to-be-married couples.
“It all sounds cliché but relax and do what works for you! Take on board opinions but ultimately do what suits you and your partner. Take mental snap shots on the day and make sure you get a few moments for the two of you to see everyone enjoying themselves – we loved that!”
Vic also recommends: “Create an order of the day sheet by hour and send to the bridal party, groomsmen, family and suppliers to confirm everything. It takes a lot of pressure off, and everyone knows who, what, when, and importantly how things need to be done!”
Huge thanks to Taylor-Hughes Photography for sharing these wonderful pictures of the day plus special thanks go to Ellie Sax for the incredible music, The Palms Bakery for the yummy cake and Petal and Paper Co for the stunning signage and menus! A particular shout out to Photo Bomb for keeping everyone laughing with their brilliant GIF producing photobooth. So much fun!
Vic and Bobby, surrounded by friends and family and their precious dog Millie, had the wedding they always dreamed of. Originally Vic and Bobby had planned their big day for April 2021 but in yet another twist in their epic LOVE story, this couple had faced the hard decision to postpone it due to Covid restrictions. A year later, this fab couple finally said, “I do” surrounded by everyone they loved! Hurrah. We just LOVE a happily ever after story!
