Brides, get ready to swipe right for true LOVE!
Meet our totally terrific couple Abi and Luke who met in 2014 via Tinder. When they first met, Abi was at university in Liverpool whilst Luke was living in the countryside in Rochdale. Soon after graduating Abi moved in with Luke and 6 years later in 2020, they got engaged!
Luke had originally planned to propose to Abi on their joint 30th birthday trip around Italy but due to Covid, this holiday was sadly postponed. Luke wasn’t deterred though, and he finally popped the question when they were taking their fur baby, Dave the Frenchie, on a dog walk!
Luke and Abi tied the knot on Saturday the 6th August 2022 at Dorfold Hall in Cheshire. This magnificent 17th Century stately home is set in 800 acres of stunning English countryside. With its lush green lawns, romantic tumbling rose arches and elegant interiors it was the perfect venue for the wedding vibe the couple were aiming for.
Abi wanted to create a romantic yet modern look for their special day. She gave The Ancoats Florists a mood board of ideas using her preferred colour palette of neutral tones but ultimately gave them free rein to select the best wedding blooms for the day. To add a modern twist to the blooms, Abi asked that a few modern details were included such as dried flowers as well as adding the oh so stylish “reflex rose” into her bouquets and backdrops. The results were simply jaw-dropping!
For her big day, Abi chose to wear the fantastically feminine ‘Elsie Flowy’ gown in pebble by Australian designer, Made with Love. Prior to trying on wedding dresses, Abi was convinced that she would get married in a plain, slip style dress with no pattern or details, but like many brides-to-be, your ‘yes’ dress can have a funny way of unexpectedly sweeping you off your feet!
‘Elsie Flowy’ has a deep plunging neckline, illusion side cut outs and is made from the most luxurious floral ‘Stevie’ lace. She is an absolute dream of a dress, and we can see why Abi fell in LOVE with this gown. With detachable tulle shoulder bows and beautiful flowing A-line skirt with a subtle sparkle, Elsie is super elegant and incredibly romantic. Abi wore a simple veil for the ceremony and switched up her look by adding Elsie’s gorgeous tulle bows for their reception. She finished off her look with a Cartier D’amour bracelet and necklace plus small ceramic flowers gently placed in her hair.
Abi says her experience with us at LOVE was enlightening!
“I had just had my baby girl two months before trying on wedding dresses and my body shape had changed. It was hard to predict how my body would change again in the 10 months before my wedding. I had tried 5 dresses on and was unsure what to do as the plain fitted dresses just didn’t feel right. Elsie was completely different to what I wanted – busy, patterned, and big – but I absolutely fell in love. The ladies at LOVE knew something I didn’t because I would have never picked that dress up in a million years, but it just felt right. I have had so many compliments on it since getting married and I’ll never regret choosing it”.
We admit it – we all do a happy dance when our brides find the ‘one’!
Abi said the highlights of her day were:
“Walking down the aisle and locking eyes with Luke. Our little girl had walked down the aisle ahead of me and it was just the most perfect moment. Highlights were also the speeches (my dad and Luke, both absolutely nailed it), the food (Samuel James Events are insanely good!) and of course just having all our favourite people from all corners of the earth together in one place – something that will never happen again.”
Abi’s top tips for other couples planning their wedding day is:
“Someone told me at the start of the planning process to pick the 3 things that you care the most about and spend money on those things, then set a budget for everything else. We chose entertainment, venue and food. I found this to be so helpful and it forced me to negotiate with suppliers in the other areas. I used Instagram to find most of my suppliers and it’s how I came across my photographer Marta D Weddings who was just insane!”
She adds,
“Don’t sweat the small stuff and be super organised before the wedding so that you can completely relax and enjoy the day itself. I planned everything down to the tiniest detail so that on the day, everything ran like clockwork, and I could sit back and enjoy myself.”
We’ve LOVED finding out all the details about Luke and Abi’s gorgeous wedding. Huge thanks to photographer Marta D Weddings for sharing these amazing photos. Big shout out also goes to some of the other suppliers who helped the couple design their perfect day – Elle Bee Designs for the gorgeous stationery, Twisted Tubes Band and Ella Wass Music who were just some of the fab entertainers at Luke and Abi’s wedding. Special thanks also go to mobile bar and drinks specialist’s The Estate Boys Bar and to Hill & Hill The Jewellers who designed Abi’s engagement ring and both Abi and Luke’s wedding rings.
