LOVE brides you’re in for a total treat with Peak District couple Nicola and Jonathan’s ultra-chic wedding. It’s a wonderful display of minimalist elegance that’s BIG on style and of course LOVE.
In 2017 this gorgeous couple got engaged on Christmas Eve on a beach in Wales with their much-loved first pooch (Murphy) witnessing the adorable ‘yes’ moment.
Like many couples over recent years, Nicola and Jonathan were faced with the tough decision to reschedule their wedding due to Covid restrictions. Originally, they planned to marry in Italy, but, when it turned out their second wedding date couldn’t go ahead, they took the heart-breaking decision to cancel and rethink their plans.
Nicola and Jonathan finally said “I do” on the 12th of May 2022 in an intimate ceremony at Upper House Estate. Upper House Estate is a stunning 15th century medieval castle wedding venue nestled in the heart of the National Trust Kinder Estate. With breath taking views and oodles of natural light it’s no wonder the couple fell in LOVE with this stunning place. Initially, when they started planning their wedding, Upper House Estate had been their preferred venue in the UK. With their Italian wedding now no longer an option, Upper House Estate became the obvious choice. The bonus? Their dogs could now be part of the ceremony too! Yay!
Nicola and Jonathan didn’t have a wedding theme as such but knew that they wanted everything to be simple and sophisticated with clean lines, natural colours and set in a wow-worthy location. They wanted an aesthetic they could look back on in years to come and still LOVE it all.
With the groom and groomsmen wearing tuxedos and the bridesmaids wearing beautiful dark green dresses they opted for an organic green and white colour palette. Nicola’s wedding blooms were a classically simple combination of white flowers and delicate lush greenery including blousy peonies, scented sweet peas, fragrant eucalyptus and classic roses. With a tiny bit of blush mixed in, her bouquet was romantic and beautifully textured. In contrast, Nicola’s bridesmaids’ bouquets included more stark crisp white blooms to pop against the stunning green of their dresses! Divine!
Keeping in with the gorgeous minimalist aesthetic, Nicola wore Jordann the stunning gown by Australian designer Made with Love. It was the perfect dress for this ultra-chic wedding. Jordann is the epitome of striking simplicity. Perfect for the minimalist bride, Jordann is made from luxurious French crepe that is simple, sleek and hugs in all the right places. With sexy spaghetti straps, this body skimming dress has a classic V-neck and daringly low back with perfectly placed, delicate button detailing that draws your eye to her beautiful train. With a soft silhouette, and simple elegant details it’s easy to see why Nicola fell in love with the simplicity of this gown.
Nicola has these lovely words to say about her experience with us at LOVE.
“The whole experience from start to finish was flawless. I went on my own and honestly Emma was so lovely. The appointment felt super relaxed and like we had all the time in the world to find the right dress.”
Getting the ‘right’ dress is oh-so important and it’s worth taking the extra time to be 100% sure. Nicola had initially bought a dress elsewhere but had niggling doubts about it. When their wedding was postponed, Nicola wisely took the time to get the dress she really wanted. We were thrilled we could help her get the dress of her dreams! Nicola paired her Jordann dress with a long veil with a silk trim and the most gorgeous Gucci Marmont sandal shoes.
Nicola had these wise words to share for brides-to be planning their special day.
“Don’t stress about the small things (or the big things) they will work out in the end! Enjoy the build-up because it goes so fast. Choose the dress you LOVE and do not make yourself miserable trying to fit yourself into it – it will fit around you!”
We couldn’t agree more!
With a wedding reception at Dakota Manchester, surrounded by those they love and with the couples much loved dogs, Nicola says she couldn’t imagine the Italian wedding they originally planned. Their day was so true to who they were as a couple that it was simply perfect.
Thanks to Lauren Elliot Photography for sharing these amazing photos of the day and an extra special shout out to The Allotment Bride Florist for the amazing wedding blooms, Mel Wise Hair and Millie Ansons Bridal Make up for Nicola’s stunning look on the day.
We’ve absolutely LOVED hearing about all the simple elegant details of Nicola and Jonathan’s wedding. Their ultra-chic wedding aesthetic was utterly amazing.
